Semester Wrap Up

This semester honestly wasn’t that bad, considering all the complications that we had to deal with. I enjoyed the work we did in class while we were still on campus, and I’m happy that we got a chance to use the real cameras at least a couple of times. My favorite project by far was our final project, even though it was the one I struggled the most with. I struggled with the final project because of the restrictions that were and are in place because of quarantine, so I felt limited in my subject matter, but also because I struggled to come up with a cohesive/coherent story to tell. I know my strength isn’t in writing dialogue, so I was hesitant to do something that relied heavily on characters speaking to each other. I am a huge fan of aesthetics, so i knew I wanted to do something that focused mostly on that, so that the strength of the piece would be in the visuals. Interview Plan

1 paragraph description (or bullet-list): Who are you going to interview? My Mother What story are you going to tell? The story of my birth and the health complications that followed  What is the beginning, middle, and end of the story? After trying for a very long time to get pregnant, my mom finally got pregnant with me  I was born, and the doctors thought I was perfectly healthy, but then they found out I had problems with my heart  I had open heart surgery, and was in NICU for 20 days  To wrap it up it will end with my mom expressing how lucky we were that I turned out fine, and havent had any complications since then  What larger themes does this story address? The piece will focus more on the feelings and emotions experienced throughout the course of the story, rather than plot. Artist's Statement

I have always loved film. Whether it was animated movies, comedies, dramas, action, any genre really  (except horror I’m a huge scaredy cat) I was fascinated. When I was younger my love of movies was  purely due to how magical they were, how they were able to make you forget about your own life and  be transported to a fantastical world for an hour and a half. Now that I’m older and have a bit of insight  into the behind the scenes world, I have an even greater love and appreciation. Now when I watch  animated films or tv, I’m able to appreciate the complexity and time commitment the animators put into  their work, because I know firsthand just how hard it is. Now when watching movies I don’t just think  about the story, I think about what they had to do to get the shot, how they did it. I’m also able to  appreciate the pure aesthetic quality of films.
